Selection Process for Journal Inclusion in Research Xplore
The Centre for Promote e Communication of Research(CPeCR) decides whether the scientific and editorial character and quality of a journal merit its inclusion in Research Xplore. In making this decision CPeCR considers the suitability of the journal for the Research Xplore collection (based on the criteria (Guide to submit journals ResearchXplore), as well as the recommendations of external, expert consultants. CPeCR follows the scientific and editorial quality review process for journals that apply for inclusion in Research Xplore.
The CPeCR has consultants with Ph.D, MD, etc. degrees include scientists, physicians, academicians and librarians for evaluation of Journals. At least two consultants, usually one scientist and one librarian, review each journal. The articles of journal being reviewed by consultants generally based on scientific and editorial quality. CPeCR takes final decision on the basis of recommendations given by the consultants on selecting a title for inclusion in Research Xplore.
Assessment of Scientific and Editorial Quality of Journal
The efforts of researchers resulted in discovering new knowledge in different areas. Scientific literatures ( journals, thesis, etc.) are the main vehicles for the dissemination of this knowledge, because they are effective in the propagation and in the speed of dissemination of the results obtained by researches.
The purpose of a scientific journal is to provide the community a channel for communicating and disseminating technical and scientific production through the publication of original articles. This dissemination broadens the knowledge of the specific area with the results of several researches, and contributes to the advancement of knowledge. In addition to disseminating knowledge, scientific journals give visibility to research advances, preserve memory, are educational sources and also have a social and political role in the scientific community.
Therefore, scientific journals must ensure quality of articles and follow the ethics of publications. CPeCR assesses the scientific and editorial quality of journals based on certain criteria before inclusion in Research xplore.
The criteria, CPeCR consultants evaluates journal content include: Article content; Journal policies; Figure and table quality; Formatting and organization; Language quality; Editorial board and authorship; Publication schedule; etc.
